A Rare Case of Myxedema Coma Precipitated by a Single Dose of Haloperidol in a Patient With Paranoid Schizophrenia

Myxedema coma is a rare and potentially life-threatening condition that occurs when severe hypothyroidism untreated or inadequately managed. It characterized by rapid drop in mental status, hypothermia, respiratory failure, hypotension, other symptoms of metabolic dysfunction. The primarily affects older women with history thyroid dysfunction but can occur any age gender group. A common trigger for this seen atmospheric temperatures during the cold winter months. However, rare, poorly documented recent antipsychotic use hypothyroid states. diagnosis myxedema requires prompt recognition treatment, as delays result significant morbidity mortality which objective case report.
